Reflections for Deputy Sheriff David William March
Honey,
Today, YOUR handcuffs were on the amimal that took your life. I wish you had been able to use them on him on that fateful day. Had Garcia cooperated, he would be most likely jailed briefly, and most likely on the streets today. Now he will spend the rest of his life behind bars if found guilty. How could this man be so cold, and so evil?? We will continue to honor you, and see this through. Dave, I feared you would be forgotten, and Garcia would get away with this. I prayed daily for strength and courage to keep fighting for you. Thank you for loving me the way you did. It carried me, when I wanted to quit. This next chapter is for you. Justice will be done!!! Until I see you again. By the way...the tough guy...didn't look so tough...he looked defeated!!! Thank God for the awesome detective work, as well as the countless others that made this possible.
xoxo, Teri

Through partnerships across international borders, it is pleasing to see that your killer has been successfully extradited and will now be held responsible for his cowardly and senseless act that he carried out on April 29, 2002!!! Congratulations to all law enforcement officials who were persistent in their efforts and for the excellent cooperation between the many agencies who played crucial roles to make this happen!!!
I pray your family will be strong throughout the time that this coward is brought to justice. God Bless you all!!!

Armando Garcia is now back in California, in custody and waiting to stand trial for Dave's murder. Armando was taken into custody with the handcuffs that Dave wore on his belt, the day he was murdered. This is great day for Deputy March and a great tribute. Dave was a great friend and he is dearly missed by all that knew him. Dave, Armando will pay for his crime(LIFE IN PRISON). Thank you for who you ARE! You made a great sacrafice to make this world a better place. GO TROJANS!

When I received the call from Teri that your killer was back on US soil, it brought tears to my eyes. Those tears were for joy and for the upcoming pain that your family will endure. I know this pain all to well because our stories are much too simular. My husbands killer was extradited in December of 2005 and will spend 86 long years behind bars for taking Donnie's life. We unfortunately could not go for life but your killer will face life as will all of those cowards to follow. Your family will get through this, it will be the chapter in the book that has been missing for so long. My thoughts and prayers will be with you. Teri our friendship is one that will last forever. The family, Dave and justice will have the final word.

Words can not express the sadness of your loss. Reflecting on that nightmare morning, I was on my way home. Only to see the events that had taken place, heart broken by this nighmare. My husband too is a Deputy, a hero. No one can ever say what a sacrific our families make daily. What it takes to be the wives of men like you. We take comfort in the fact that our lives have been blessed to know men like you. And thankful to have protectors of truth and justice by men like you and my husband, and happy to know that animal was brought back for justice. You are forever in our hearts and prayers. Our true hero

I recall watching the news of David's death back in 2002. I remember the great pain I felt for his family and the hope that his killer would eventually be brought to justice for this horrible crime.
I've recently entered the Sheriff's Academy and my Drill SGT. spoke about Deputy March and his "creed". Listening to my DI read off the words that David "lived" and "died" by was quite moving.
David was a true hero in every sense of the word. I wish his wife Teri, his daughter, and the rest of his family the very best.
It's good to know that his killer was finally caught earliar this year. Let's all hope that he is returned to California and that appropriate justice is delt out swiftly.
God Bless you David, your sacrifice will not be forgotten!!!

Deputy March,
you are never forgotton. I think of you every single day. I have never met you but you are part of the LASD family as were my mother and father. LASD will always have a place in my heart, and your story is tragic. As America tries to deal with the problem of ILLEGAL immigration, i hope it stops to remember you and your sacrifice, to remind us that not all illegal aliens are here to work. this coward just wanted to kill a cop and gang bang in America. I am standing up for defending America and doing the right thing. Look after me from up above and lead me through my life. God bless you Deputy March.

It's been 4 years ago today that the coward ambushed you and deprived us of your smile and personality. Through the hard work of your parents and wife you have never been forgotten. They have kept your murder "on the front page" for the last 4 years. The suspect has been captured in Mexico and will soon face the American justice system!
Look after us Dave and when it's our time to go, greet us at the gate with that huge smile of yours......

To Deputy Sheriff David William March, his loved ones and his fellow officers:
On this the fourth anniversary of your tragic death, please know that your memory is revered and honored today.
May your family continue be to comforted by the warm embrace of their law enforcement family, and other police survivors who share this painful journey with them. My heart is with your family.
Reading all the loving reflections left by those who cared for you gives us an understanding of what a good and honorable man you were and of the high esteem with which you are held.
There aren't sufficient words to describe the outrage I felt when I read the circumstances of your brutal murder, and the aftermath of the gross lack of justice. I am glad that your family never gave up fighting for justice in your case, and I hope that they get the full measure of justice that you and they deserve.
I have been an attorney for over twenty-three years and have spent countless days in courtrooms over the years. Now I find myself in the excrutiating circumstance of facing the murderers of my son each time they walk into the courtroom. My daughter-in-law Jo Ann and I are always there because like you, we are vigilant in our quest for justice.
I cannot even imagine what your family has been through knowing the despicable criminal who took David's life was living free in Mexico. I had not heard about this injustice before I signed in to leave an anniversary posting, but will pray every day for justice for David. Please let me know if I can help in any way.
David, as a peace officer you rescued us, saved our possessions, our lives and our families. You are one of the rare heroes among us. You were always there for us in the most traumatic moments of our lives. No matter when we called, we just expected that you would come and do whatever it took to help us, and you always met our expectations. Your selflessness and dedication are awe-inspiring.
This world, this country, your community truly are better places because of you. To have lost you is a great tragedy, an irreplaceable, immeasurable loss for society. We are grateful for and to you, and honor you for all you did for us day in and day out whether you received a word of thanks or praise.
Rest in Peace, Deputy March. I am so humbled by your valor and courage. I am also humbled by the relentless fighting spirit of Teri and your parents as they now fight for you.
This reflection is sent with the utmost respect for the distinquished service David gave to his community and the citizens of California, and for the supreme sacrifice he and his family made on April 29, 2002.

I just walked into the other room and my husband had his copy of American Police Beat open to an article entitled "We don't forgive, forget, or give up." This caught my eye, so I continued to read the article and wanted to let you know that I am so happy that Dep. March's killer has been found and will be made to face the American system of justice. Although there is still a long road ahead, waiting for extradition and then the trial, I hope that his family will be able to find some peace knowing that this man will never bring such anguish to anyone ever again. God bless you all and give you strength to make it through the next stage on this long, hard journey.
Dep. March, you will always be remembered as a hero. Thank you for your dedication and sacrifice.

Honey, we never stopped fighting for justice in your honor. Your smile and spirit has kept us focused to the beautiful life ripped away from us. We knew you deserved better than this horrific outcome. (Killer at Large) You touched our hearts through your life, and through your death. I'm so honored you chose me to share your life with. I will always have fond memories and such admiration for you. I will always be proud of the man you were. On Thursday, Feb 23, 2006 we learned Garcia was CAPTURED and will now have to pay for taking you out our life. We have a journey ahead, but we have waited for so long for this next step. Ultimately God will have the final vengeance. I will love and miss you for the rest of my life. Until I see you again, Your Wife, Teri

I never got the chance to meet you Dave, but I know others who have. It was truly a great day Friday when the coward who took your life was finally arrested. Everytime I would look at the wated person flyer of that scum, I would say to myself one day he will face justice for his cowardly act that took the life of a husband, father, son, and hero. Well that day has come now may your family have some sense of closure and justice.
May you now rest in peace HERO and may you watch over your wife and parents, they fought hard to make the caputure of your killer finally a reality.

Deputy March--I just heard the great news. I have been following your story since I heard about your tragic murder at the hands of a coward. Last summer Denver P.D. Detective Donnie Young was also murdered by a Mexican National who fled the country to find safe haven in Mexico. Colorado Senator Bob Boupret (sp?) was instrumental in getting the legislation changed so that cop killers who run back to Mexicao will no longer have a place to hide. Garcia's in custody and will face justice--American justice! You are a true hero. God bless you and your family. The heartfelt condolences of the Park County Sheriff's Office go out to your family and the brave men and women of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department. Rest in peace, brother.

Just heard the great news on the news this morning that he was arrested! It is obvious no one gave up on finding your killer and that is so awesome! Thank you to the Mexican authorities who assisted in the capture. I hope this sends out a message to all the other cowards who flee to Mexico that they will be found and brought back to face their punishment.

David, it's about 4 years now since your Murder.
You and Teri really affected my Nephew, he is turning in his background papers for our Department this month.
Your Murder made him so "outraged" and he realized he needed to follow us with our mission.
Rest in Peace David.

Dave,
Every day I drive to work I pass the memorial 0n-ramp bearing your name, so I think about you all the time. That said, it doesn't take that on-ramp to spark wonderful memories of you. You were a great man and it was easy to like you. You were very humble and always quick to smile. Reflecting on my softball glory days (man I'm getting old) I remember many great conversations we had on numerous topics.
I am glad you found the Lord prior to your leaving us. I know you are much better off than we are. Rest in peace my good friend. I look forward to seeing you again some day.
Hopefully, the Trojans will bring home #3 in a row here and we can toast them in your name!
