Reflections for Police Officer William Coleman Cook
A dream for tomorrow would be to see violence ended for good. A great way to memorialize your legacy, Officer Cook and for the folks of Dade County to salute the honesty, dignity and integrity always so loyal and brave. Evil took a wonderful, special and very precious soul away from his family, it did not tarnish the good work, the excellence of your humbleness, heart and soul now encircling us forever. Your family, Officer Cook has missed your smile, laugh and just being with you. Charisma, wisdom, vision and maturity they all were above the crowd. The roads, streets and avenues had your persistent perseverance and a penetrating unselfishness figuring out how to resolve conflict and to deliver a semblance of peace and harmony. Rest in peace my neighbor, friend and hero.

After officers are lost while performing their due diligence, departments try to calculate and make various adjustments in technique or in some other way, shape or form to possibly lessen loss of life or injury though they both are going to be around seeing the society we now occupy is deemed a little more perilous. This didn't stop you, Officer Cook, from defending Dade County and it certainly did not sidetrack your honest efforts sincerely appreciated by all who now live on. Memories live on in your family, colleagues of the past and so many, many friends who greatly admired your grit and gumption. Everything was tailor made for you to have a long life and a career where you and Karen should have seen your retirement growing older gracefully as your 50th wedding anniversary was nearly around that corner. Three more years. Instead forty-two and a half years later we must offer a hearty salute for your vision, virtue and valor, Officer Cook, all heart, soul and faithfully built character. Rest in peace my neighbor, friend and hero. Legacies begin as small building blocks and increase as one's development and progress up that humble ladder grows larger too. Violence and evil should never have interrupted nor ended your thoughtful life and a career of scruples, principles and upholding the highest of standards. An angel forever walking a perfect beat in the skies above!
