Reflections for Deputy Sheriff Joshua Everett Norris

Josh, I didn't know you until I watched your first "rookies" show. At the end, when your FTO told about your death, it took my breath and broke my heart. I have thought about you every day since it was shown a several days ago. I hope I am just lucky enough to be the person that you were here on Earth... thank you Josh...for everything...

Gone too SOON!!!!
As I rewatched, (5x's), the "Rookies" episode of Deputy Josh Norris, I can not help but see the love his FTO had for him, even though he was his training officer.
Please, all who are believers, understand that God is in control and doesn't make mistakes. It can be hard to hear sometimes, but it is absolutly true.
Josh's main goal was to become a JPSO Deputy Sheriff, and he did just that. I saw God's glow on Josh's face and I could see the kindness of Josh's heart as I watched the show.
God has called Josh home and that is only done to "good" people when your work here is done!!!! Rest in Peace Dep. Joshua Norris......you were......Gone Too SOON!!!!!

Kiddo

Just dropping a line to tell you that Beth and I still hold you close in our heart. With your Birthday coming up on the 26th, it makes me think what come of husband and dad you would have been. Kid I know you would have been great at both. Funny how little thinks will bring back memories of you, you may have lived with us a little over a year, but feel like you are one of my very own kids.

Deputy Norris,

I never had the pleasure of meeting you, but since I first saw you on the episode of "Rookies", I have never forgotten you. You see, when that episode first aired, I had just completed field training, and was finally "cut loose". It is because of you, that I went out and bought a Saint Michael pendant, and have worn it around my neck every day since then. I also have a picture of you in my patrol car, to always remind me just how dangerous this job is, and how short life can be. Your episode just recentley was on tv again, and I think it was even harder for me to watch this time, than when I saw it 5 years ago. You are, and always will be an inspiration to me. God bless you, and your family. Please continue to watch over the rest of us.

Well Kid

The time is just clicking along, wish you had more time with us. Tara and Matt is expecting number 4, which just lights my heart up. With every new arrival to the family is always haunted with the “ what if's’ with me. Just stopped by to leave some words for the recently lost Police Officers and their families, since so many individuals wrote on your site when we lost you and still do. You will always be in my and Beth'sheart

Well Son

Willie is a brand new dad to a baby girl, Good lord will give him at least 15 years of peace, then the boys like you and him will start coming around. That is when all the fun ends for a DAD of a daughter and worrying goes into overdrive. Yea some of this thinning top of mine is directly related to you kid.

Hey Kiddo

Just swinging by to say hi. Justin, Amber's boyfriend started his career in law enforcement and looks like him and Amber are very serious. Friday they want to take Beth and I out to dinner, so waiting to see if a question is hooked to the dinner as well. Looks like he will be working in the lock up until an academy starts, similar to what you did. Will say when asked to write his recommendation, I was not sure if I want to, since still struggle with thinking I romanced the job to you and did not highlight the dangers. But like you, good Kid and really has a desire to be a police officer. Tell you when people find out that he wanted to go into law enforcement, everyone was comparing you and Jess to him and Amber. But I understand that God had a plan for you, just hope one day he will tell me what that was, but he gave you the chance to ask Jess to be your wife. Allowing you to finish that one task you wanted to do, before going to him. Kid the changes your death has set in motion still rub me the wrong way, but have faith that our heavenly father is working on them. Miss you kid and day does not past that you are not in my thoughts and prayers still. For better or worst have adopted you as one of my own. Watch over Justin for us son.

I watched your episode in a FTO.class today I questioned your position at the beginning of the show, because of your youth and soft spoken demeanor. As the show progressed I saw u excel in your duties and seemed to mature instantly. I have soaked my pillow in tears for you tonight, your bravery is the stuff 30 yr vets wish to be remembered for. My heart d

I watched him in training on the Crime Investigation Network and immediately fall in love the kid. Nice guy, very humble, disciplined and respectful. I cried when I heard that he died.
I am praying for the family. May God bless them. May He watch over them and keep them safe from danger and harm.

I like so many others that have chosen to write kind words for Josh & his family saw the show Rookies. I don't know Josh personally, but I completely related to his nervousness on the job. I was ecstatic to see that he passed & was patrolling on his own. It is a true tragedy that another human stole Josh's life, not just from him but his family & fiance as well. I will light a candle for you this Sunday at church. I hope that his family continues to read this & know that there are thousands of us that will be praying for each one of you. I can see why police officer's attitudes harden. Dealing with low lives definitely has a way of changing one's perception of humanity. May God be in your heart & at your side. Josh Norris a name never to forget.

Hey Kiddo

Well time just keep moving along. Passed by to visit a couple of days ago and still find gravesites a lonely place , absent of all sound or movement regardless of the time of day. Just the complete opposite of your nature, but Kevin and Eric are only a stone's throw away and figure you three have cook outs at night. See someone left a Christmas ornament on the tree, figure your mom or brothers. Too bad we cannot add some color or possible plant some flower in the bed around the tree near your site. I will See if Beth can find those yellow and purple flowers again and see if they take root, since you were a big LSU fan. Just on my mind boy

After watching the ending of that show, I cried for 3 straight hours, how sad, and I now have a new respect for all law enforcement people. God bless Josh, who died so young , he was so sweet and brave and I will never forget him, a real true hero. God bless his girlfiend and family, whom my heart is broken for.

I saw his story in a Rookies show on TV. I've been a police officer for almost two decades and while watching him, I told my husband " He looks like a kid!". Well, he is resting as a man. RIP.

Thinking of you and your loved ones on this day, and what a wonderful man you were to be so loved by your future father-in-law who is so devoted to your memory. It is so tragic that you were robbed of life so young. I am holding your loved ones in my heart's embrace.

Sorry Kid I have not written lately and passed by to visit, Just wanted to wish you a Merry Christmas and looking forward to a New Year. Son you are never far from my thoughts and there is not a day that does not pass which I wish you were still with us. I was listening to a sermon and the preacher was discussing how funerals the words are focus on the recently departed, but the departed was the one who wrote that sermon before it was every needed. That their individual actions wrote the story which is given at the end and will be the one read when before God. Kid you may have had some up and downs in your life, but I know when our heavenly father called you, you stood proud when you short life was read and as you should have. For someone so young, you had a life one could be proud of. You’re a good kid and hold you in my heart as close as I do my three daughters, Matt and the grandkids.

I must say the same thing the other poster "TLJ" said, I saw you on Rookies, after the episode that you lossed your life for the people of Jefferson Parish your name became entrenched in my head. I am a big supporter of law enforcement and I haven't completely ruled out the possibility of serving as an officer one-day. Deputy Norris, thank you, you are an inspiration to everyone who is considering a law and order career. I'm sorry that your life was taken so traumatically and your career ended so abruptly, though I'm happy you had the opportunity to be a police officer, being a lawman is one of the greatest achievements there is!

I am so sorry that someone took your life and dreams away. You were awsome and would have a chieved so mcuh more. RIP Josh RIP

Dear Josh, I watched your story on Rookies, just like a lot of other people who have left a reflection here, and as I watched the ending and the Honor Guard carry you to your final resting place, and see your FTO burst out in tears, it was a reality check to me to remind me that we're all human, and none of us are guaranteed to go home every night.

It may not have been the plaque you wanted, but you did get your name on the plaque. Such a tragic thing to have been killed a day after you got engaged and after a month of being loose on the street.

I shed a tear at the end of that episode, and I hope and pray everyday that I can go home to my fiancee and kiss her, and that I don't have to have my Captain or Major or Chief show up at our home and tell her that i'm never coming home again.

Godspeed, brother and God bless you, and each and every last one of us cops, agents, detectives, and anyone else who puts on the shield every morning.
