Reflections for Lieutenant John Francis McArdle
From our days of friendship in Columbus High School in the Bronx to the day I poured Jamenson on your casket in the ESU grave side ceremony I can look back and thank God for the gift of you.
You were right there for our family during our own gutwrenching LODD on September 11, 2001 for my twin brother ESU NYPD John D'Allara.
You were there for the fun golf outing in LA. You took the pranks played on you by Shebly with good humor. The times we spoke from your hospital bed in MSK. You always were a special friend.
I see the the terrorists that caused so much pain and I think of justice for my family, your family, and so many others families. I anger at the government that failed us over and over.
John you Barbara and family will always be in my thoughts. Your passing is a notable way point on my 9/11 journey.
One more fishing trip on Eastchester Bay would have been nice. One more meal at 2 Truck could have been nice.
God Rest you EZ and let perpetual light shine upon you. You John McArdle will never be forgotten by all those who loved you.

Heavenly Father, You are Compassionate and Merciful. None of America's Peace Officers ever leave home without the fear of not returning at the end of their watch. It is a fear that is lived with daily. Unfortunately, the worst does sometime come to pass, and lives are left shattered. Lord God, bless and keep the hearts and souls of those who have lost loved ones in the Line-of-Duty. Wipe away the tears from their eyes. Soothe their pain and bind up their wounds through the wounds of Your beloved Son, the Lord Jesus Christ. In His mighty and holy name, and by His authority, I pray. Amen.
"Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons [children] of God." [Matthew 5:9 ESV]

My condolences to the McArdle family, especially to his wife, three daughters and his grandson. I want to take this time to give honor to Lt. McArdle for his devotion and service to the people of New York City and to the people of New York State. May Francis' soul rest peacefully in heaven.
