Reflections for Police Officer Randal David Simmons
Though I have never met you, I regard you as my "true hero". I thank God for your selflessness, courage, and dedication to serving humanity. It deeply saddens me to hear of a brother of law enforcement leaving beyond our control. Conversely, I am filled with pride knowing that you have contributed to keeping this world safe. "We are separated by distance, but we are united at heart". Our shields never tarnish, they will always shine to honor you, and other fallen Brother. May God protect your family; and your soul rest peacefully in tact.

I recently had training here in Kansas instructed by one of you team members. I was very impressed with the pride he showed in his team. I thank you for you sacrifice. While others claim to make a difference in the world you actually did it as a daily routine. May God be with you and your family.

It takes a lot of strength and courage to serve and protect, and it takes a lot of heart to look after the community and Office Simmons had it all. He gave his life so that another could be saved and for that I salute him. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family. Rest in Peace!!

As a fellow brother in blue I could only hope to have accomplished what you have accomplished. You know it better that anybody that no one knows what this life is like. It brings tears and heartache that your children are left without a father, and your wife without her knight in shining armor. I sit hear wrighting this, crying. How is it that someone has dedicated his over half his life to our cause, going to be stricken from the life in blue. Just watch are backs partner from that big patrol unit in the sky. Your passion and determination will live on thru every person that dare's to answer the call.

My most sincere condolences to the family, friends, and fellow officers of Randy Simmons. I only met him once in 1999 when he was at our training facility helping to make our SWAT team the very best it is today. He certainly made an impact on me and our team in just that 1 meeting. We also have lost 3 officers in the line of duty in the last several years, so we know your pain. Please know all of you are in our thoughts and prayers, especially the family.

Officer Randal Simmons was an example of a true hero.
I will say it is an honor to have such a fine individual working in law enforcement.
He not only took the sacrifice everyday on the job, but he spent many of his personal hours giving back to the community and directing youth the right direction.
Officer Simmons you will be missed and will never be forgotten.
My thoughts and prayers will be with his family and fellow Officer's at the LAPD.

On 02-20-04 LAPD lost a fine young Officer and young man, Offcier Lizarraga. I know that LAPD SWAT was involved in the capture of that evil man that brought us so much pain. Although I did not know you personally, I feel as if I did. You will be missed very much. My prayers go out to your family. Maybe you and Liz can partner up and keep watch over us down here. Officer Randy Simmons and myself attended Fairfax High school together. I remember first meeting him and admiring him. He was a freshman and I was a sophmore. He played football and I played basketball and baseball. Even as a freshman he became a big man on campus. Not just because he was a big strong football player but also because his girlfriend was a senior. That was an unusual occurence for a 10th grade male to be socially involved with a 12th grade female. We could all tell there was something special about Randy. Reading some of the articles and hearing the comments and seeing how God was using Randy lets me know without a shadow of a doubt that he was really a special man. My thoughts and prayers are continuing to go out to the family and loved ones as well as the young people he touched through his ministry.

Today, I will cry for two Kirkwood Police Officers and the LAPD will cry for Officer Simmons. It won't be easy, but we will comfort one another and continue to wear the badge and make our brothers proud.
